When a San Antonio, TX homeowner called us out for a broken toilet flange, what we found told a familiar story. A previous repair had been attempted using a repair flange placed on top of an existing brass to lead flange. It was a temporary fix that was never going to hold long term, and it was time to do it the right way.

What Is a Toilet Flange and Why Does It Matter?

The toilet flange is the fitting that connects your toilet to the drain pipe and anchors it securely to the floor. When it fails or is improperly repaired, it can lead to leaks, sewage odors, an unstable toilet, and costly water damage. A broken or poorly repaired toilet flange in your San Antonio home is not something to ignore.

How We Fixed It

We removed the failed repair flange and unsoldered the existing brass flange from the lead pipe beneath it. From there, we soldered a brand-new deep brass flange directly onto the existing lead, giving the toilet a proper, permanent connection.

To make sure the flange was rock solid, we installed four concrete anchors to secure it firmly to the floor. Once the new flange was set, we installed a new wax ring and brass bolts, then reset the customer's toilet. China caps were installed, and the base was sealed with white caulking per the customer's request.

We flushed the toilet multiple times. No leaks. No movement. No issues.

Don't Let a Bad Flange Repair Go Unaddressed

If your toilet rocks, leaks at the base, or a previous repair used a repair flange stacked on top of an old one, you may have the same problem as this San Antonio, TX homeowner. A proper toilet flange repair done right the first time saves you from much bigger plumbing bills down the road.
